All-New Luxurious 2024 Kia Sportage Crossover SUV Review

2024 Kia Sportage SUV model is confirmed to come with a compact crossover that has ample space for passengers and cargo, a distinct look with style, state-of-the-art technology, and a version that can travel farther off-road than on road trips. The 2024 Kia Sportage also introduces high-efficiency and power-hungry hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants. With Kia’s excellent warranty coverage and competitive pricing, the fifth-generation Sportage appears to be the class leader on paper.

Similar characteristics are also expected to apply to the 2024 Kia Sportage. The only thing we would like to see improved is power. The Sportage’s main engine is a relatively inefficient and mediocre four-cylinder unit. The 2024 Kia Sportage Hybrid’s increased horsepower comes in handy when overtaking or merging on the highway. In addition, you will get a significant increase in fuel economy.

You should also consider other highly rated small SUVs, such as the Honda CR-V and Mazda CX-50, in addition to the 2024 Kia Sportage. The CR-V is one of the few competitors that can match the Sportage’s interior volume, while the CX-50 delivers superior performance at the expense of utility. The related Hyundai Tucson is another viable option. Be sure to use the Edmunds Expert Rating to get a thorough understanding of the advantages and disadvantages of the 2024 Kia Sportage.

2024 Kia Sportage Review

To maintain a firm grasp on new-vehicle buyers, compact crossovers such as the Kia Sportage prioritize space. The 187-hp four-cylinder engine offered with the two-row 2024 Kia Sportage lacks significant acceleration. The more potent Sportage Hybrid and PHEV, which were evaluated separately, largely address this issue. The Sportage competes with the likes of the Mazda CX-5 and Honda CR-V by offering an abundance of standard features and equipment at an attractive starting price.

Most variants come standard with front-wheel drive, but all-wheel drive is available. The Sportage’s distracting design prevents it from being confused with another crossover, but it shares a significant amount of genetic material with its corporate sibling, the Hyundai Tucson.

With 2023 well past its midpoint, more and more vehicles for the 2024 model year emerge from the planning stages and enter production. SUV enters its second year of manufacturing on a new chassis for the 2024 Kia Sportage, following a complete platform change for 2023. This change significantly enhanced some features while causing us frustration with others.

Overall, it was designed to compete with the Toyota RAV4 for a portion of the market. Let’s examine Sportage’s pricing structure to determine if eliminating one AWD option was in its best interest.

  • Elegant, silent, and high-tech interior
  • Spacious seating and a massive cargo area
  • X-Pro trim provides enhanced off-road capability.
  • No significant alterations are anticipated.

2024 Kia Sportage

What’s New for 2024

After a substantial redesign in 2023, the Kia Sportage underwent fewer significant changes in 2024. Kia equips all Sportage variants with second-row airbags and LED projector headlights as standard equipment. In addition, the all-wheel-drive SX trim has been discontinued for 2024.

2024 Kia Sportage Redesign

2024 Kia Sportage completely redesigned for its latest model, we expect the 2024 Kia Sportage to be a carryover model by receiving a bold design, extended wheelbase, updated powertrain, and more tech features. The result is a compact SUV with a bold look and plenty of interior space.

The boomerang-style daytime running lights are positioned next to the grille and the headlights are located relatively low on the front end of the SUV, giving the Sportage a unique look. It is equally strange at the rear where the 2024 Kia Sportage has taillights connected by a black trim piece that protrudes slightly out of the liftgate.

As a stock model, the 2024 Sportage should have the same exterior design. The 2024 KIA Sportage is expected to feature a more luxurious design. The angled air vents are similar to the Sportage’s daytime running lights and divide the dashboard into two parts. On higher trims, two screens dominate the dashboard and give the SUV a modern design. Kia integrated some useful features into the Sportage’s design such as coat hangers mounted on the back of the front headrests and USB ports located on the front seat backs.

Kia introduces more high-tech features with the Sportage 2024 which features An eight-inch touchscreen that is standard, featuring Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, satellite radio, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi hotspots, and USB ports. A 12.2-inch digital instrument cluster is also standard.

Available features include a 12.3-inch touchscreen, navigation, a Harman Kardon audio system, and a wireless charging pad.

2024 Sportage Compact Crossover SUV

The 2024 KIA Sportage is a compact crossover SUV that competes hard against popular choices like the Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, and Nissan Rogue. The Sportage’s recent redesign brings many improvements.

Quoted from Edmunds by Alberto Hernandez, informs the 2024 KIA Sportage gets an improved makeover The interior is now roomier overall with a more spacious seating area and the cargo space has been expanded to 39.6 cubic feet, making the 2024 KIA Sportage one of the largest in its class. Technology features available on the 2024 KIA Sportage include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration a wireless charging pad with a 12.3-inch screen, and more.

The 2023 KIA Sportage uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine backed by an eight-speed automatic transmission that leaves a lot to be desired. The Sportage offers enough power to make it a solid choice for a small SUV despite ranking slightly below the class leader. The new Kia Sportage 2024 compact SUV is completely updated. The New 2024 Kia Sportage Exterior design of the fifth-generation Kia Sportage makes it almost unrecognizable from its predecessor. The large touchscreen gives the interior a much more modern look.

This technology and other updates will help the 2024 Kia Sportage compete better in a segment that has largely abandoned the last generation of models.

  • Taller than the previous generation Sportage: 7.1 inches longer, slightly taller and wider
  • New exterior design front and back
  • Slightly more powerful than the 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine
  • New eight-speed automatic transmission
  • The AWD model adds 1.5 inches of mileage over the previous Sportage
  • Revamped interior with updated dashboard, air vents, center console, and shifters
  • Touchpad for climate control and audio
  • Increased rear legroom and rear cargo capacity
  • A dual 12.3-inch curved display is available
  • Wi-Fi hotspot connects up to five devices to the internet
  • X-Line, X-Pro, and X-Pro Prestige trim join the ranks
  • 360-degree view camera and blind-spot view monitor available in the instrument cluster
  • Hybrid models are on the way
  • Beautiful new design
  • Great back legroom
  • Large cargo compartment
  • Now built in the USA
  • Curved display screen

2024 Kia Sportage Changes: It’s A Carryover But Does Have Changes

LED projector headlamps and second-row seat-mounted airbags are the newest standard safety features for all 2024 Kia Sportage trims, enhancing the vehicle’s overall safety. Sadly, the middling 2.5-liter gasoline direct injection (GDI) I-4 with 187 hp and 178 lb-ft of torque also returns.

It’s still paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, which was designed to propel the 2023 Sportage X-Pro to 60 miles per hour in 9.3 seconds. However, the X-Pro is equipped with all-terrain tires that other trims lack, allowing it to reach the 2023 SUV of the Year finalists. However, that period is still disappointing, and we do not anticipate that changing.

Any price increase is difficult to accept, but Kia keeps its increases to a minimum. A portion of this increase may be attributable to the fact that projector LED headlamps and new rear-seat-mounted airbags are now standard on all models. Each remaining trim increases by $1,170 for the 2023 model year. This includes a $70 increase in destination fees; delivering your Kia to the dealer will now cost $1,325, up from $1,255. (We include destination fees in our base pricing.)

2024 Kia Sportage Exterior Style

The bold new exterior design of the 2024 Kia Sportage is not only different from other Kia but also from every other compact SUV on the market. The wide black grille is a bolder reinterpretation of Kia’s signature front design, and the previous model’s bug-eye headlights are replaced with slimmer units integrated into the grille.

The bright sun is not to be missed. Is the design a bit busy? Possible. But in a competitive segment dominated by Honda, Subaru, and Nissan, the 2024 KIA Sportage cannot be ignored. At the rear, the black roof pillars provide a sporty look which we hope matches the driving experience. The new tail lamps are linked by a thin strip, a much-appreciated design.

We believe the 2024 Kia Sportage is a worthy successor to the current model, which is already one of the coolest and most modern compact SUVs, as expected, but also packed with attention to detail, such as the black grille with stretch sports graphics. There’s also a modern Tiger Nose grille equipped with boomerang-style daytime running lights and low headlights.

The side profile of the All-New 2024 KIA Sportage is clean, with sharp lines running across the smooth body surface, and for the first time, a black roof will be available as an option on the Sportage. Kia claims it will help accentuate the sporty profile and character of its “dynamic C-pillar architecture”. post-D

Overall, the future Kia Sportage 2024 has a strong presence, enhanced on the sides. Attractively tapered rear and subtle taillights add to the feel of the vehicle’s width.

2024 Kia Sportage Interior

A considerate and user-friendly interior is an additional strength of the 2024 KIA Sportage. Kia has upgraded the interior’s appearance and design without sacrificing functionality. The new touchscreen iconography, which resembles neon signs, may not be to everyone’s liking, but at least it appears modern, and Kia has retained a large number of practical physical controls.

All-wheel-drive 2024 KIA Sportage have an 8.3-inch greater ground clearance than front-wheel-drive models (7.1 inches), resulting in a marginally higher step-in height. However, it is still a relatively easy vehicle to enter and exit, particularly with its squared-off doorways.

The visibility is excellent due to the large windows and easy-to-estimate body dimensions from the driver’s seat. And for those who desire even greater visibility, the Prestige variants are equipped with an outstanding surround-view camera system. The cabin provides ample space for passengers, with the exception of the front headroom. Although individuals under 6 feet tall should not have any issues, we question if the exceptionally tall will feel uncomfortable in the front seat.

Cargo

The interior of the 2024 KIA Sportage impresses with a stylish design accentuated by a large digital display on the dashboard and other eye-catching details. Optionally, the interior features an appealing two-tone color scheme, but if you prefer an all-black cabin, that option is also available. The center console features a rotary shift knob, a push-to-start button, and a plethora of additional controls that merge into the piano-black bezel.

Due to its larger overall dimensions and longer wheelbase, the 2024 KIA Sportage has more rear-seat legroom and 40 cubic feet of storage capacity behind the rear seats. Additionally, there is a dual-level cargo floor for added versatility.

Infotainment and Connectivity

The Sportage comes standard with desirable infotainment features such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Standard equipment includes an 8-inch infotainment display and a digital gauge display. We recommend upgrading to the 12.3-inch-diameter, larger infotainment display, which offers enhanced connectivity and crisper visuals.

There are also touch-sensitive controls below the infotainment interface that switch between the climate control system and the audio system. In addition to an enhanced Harman/Kardon unit, a wireless phone charger and a Wi-Fi hotspot accessible via subscription are available.

Entry-level Sportage Hybrid

Entry-level Sportage Hybrid models should get a 12.2-inch cluster screen, while high-end versions get an enhanced 12.3-inch screen. On top of the standard 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen, the 12.3-inch unit comes with a higher trim.

Apart from that, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included. The base model has a front-row USB port, while the one above has a second-row port and a wireless charging pad. High-end models should get conveniences like a Harman Kardon audio system, built-in navigation, and multicolor ambient lighting.

Comfort

Prioritizing comfort? The 2024 KIA Sportage has you covered. The seats may not provide a wide range of adjustments, but they provide excellent support and padding in all the right areas. If you select for a model with a higher trim level, the front seats feature ventilation and heating capabilities. The adjustable recline of the rear seats will surely make your rear passengers happy.

The suspension of the 2024 KIA Sportage is very gently tuned. This enables the Sportage to absorb bumps and broken pavement effectively but can cause it to bob uncomfortably more when the road is undulating. Kia also did an excellent job of keeping undesirable noise out of the cabin and maintaining a rattle-free interior.

We think the climate control layout is fairly slick, with the touch panel controls transforming into media controls when they’re not in use, but we could see some individuals not liking it. Aside from the interface, the system’s performance is robust and effective at maintaining the desired cabin temperature.

Technology

The Kia Sportage features an abundance of interior technology and driver assistance features. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, as are a multitude of USB-A and USB-C connections in both rows. Our demo vehicle featured a wireless charging pad and 12.3-inch displays for the instrument cluster and infotainment system. The navigation system in our test Sportage was simple to operate, but it lacked real-time traffic data, which is unfortunate. Additionally, the touchscreen inputs are disabled while moving.

The 2024 KIA Sportage offers numerous driver assistance features, including adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, a surround-view monitor, and parking assist. We appreciate how well it functions in actual use. The adaptive cruise maintains adequate distances between vehicles without perpetually applying the brakes, and none of the collision systems triggered false alarms. Using only the key fob, Smart Park will pull the Sportage out of or into a parking space. This is a clever celebration trick.

Storage

The 2024 KIA Sportage provides ample storage space, which has become a requirement for any modern compact SUV worth its salt, and which has become a hallmark of the Sportage. The Sportage is among the most spacious vehicles in its class, with 39.6 cubic feet of cargo capacity behind the second row and 74.1 cubic feet with that row folded down. The load floor is vast and level, and the rear seats are foldable via the hatch. The rear seats have easy-to-locate and access car seat anchors, and the rear seats are large enough to accommodate even the largest rear-facing car seats.

The remainder of the cabin’s storage is also excellent. In front of the shifter on the center console is a small compartment with a lid that contains USB connections and a wireless pad, though it’s large enough for more than just a phone. The cup holders are also ingenious, retracting into the walls to make room for larger beverages or to create an additional storage compartment for other items. When appropriately equipped, the 2024 KIA Sportage can tow a maximum of 2,500 pounds. This is average for a small SUV and sufficient for a small boat or trailer.

2024 Kia Sportage Favorite Features

  • BLIND POINT MONITOR DISPLAY
When you turn on the turn signal, a video image of the Sportage’s rear three-quarter blind spot is displayed on the digital instrument panel, making lane changes much safer. Equipped with BlindSpot CollisionAvoidance Assist, which automatically applies selective braking to prevent the Sportage from turning in congested lanes.
  • PRESTIGE X-LINE, X-PRO, & X-PRO MODELS
This is a rugged new Sportage model suitable for use on the ground. While they’re utterly incapable of, say, a Jeep Wrangler in an off-road setting, they do have an extra 1.5 inches of ground clearance, BFGoodrich all-terrain tires, and a multi-terrain all-wheel-drive system with dirt-specific settings.

2024 Kia Sportage Standard Features

All 2024 Kia Sportage are expected to come standard with a 2.5 cylinder 4 cylinder engine and 8-speed automatic transmission. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also standard, as is the new touchpad that doubles up for operating the climate control system and audio system.

The X-Line and X-Pro models come as standard with all-wheel drive, and projector-style LED headlights are mounted on the Sportage X-Pro Prestige. The upper 2024 KIA Sportage also gets ventilated front seats and an 8-way front passenger seat.

The new 2024 KIA Sportage is also equipped with a standard driver assistance system. Even the base Sportage, the LX, gets a collision avoidance program with cyclist detection and automatic emergency braking, plus lane guard assistance, driver attention warning, LED headlights, high beam assist, rear passenger alert, and rear. parking distance warning.

Factory Option

The main option on the 2024 Kia Sportage is an active AWD system that uses an electro-hydraulic clutch with a center locking differential. You can also get Kia Connect (a new name for the UVO infotainment system), a Wi-Fi hotspot, and a premium Harman Kardon sound system.

Many of the other 2024 KIA Sportage options are focused on safety. These include navigation-based smart cruise control, handy Blind-Spot View Monitor, 360-degree surround-view monitor, blind-spot collision avoidance assistance, rear-traffic assist, forward parking distance warning, and even Highway Driving.

The latest technology is a hands-on system that will use speed limit information to automatically adjust the vehicle’s speed while maintaining a set distance to the car in front and keeping the 2024 KIA Sportage on track.

Kia’s new 2024 KIA Sportage is also available with Junction Turning, a safety technology designed to prevent collisions with oncoming vehicles when you turn left at intersections.

Also available: Remote Smart Parking Assist. This allows Sportage drivers to exit the vehicle and use their smart key as a remote to guide this (not so) 2024 Kia Sportage compact SUV into (or out of) tight parking spaces.

2024 Kia Sportage Engine and Transmission

The Sportage comes standard with a 2.5-liter, 187-hp four-cylinder engine mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and front- or all-wheel drive. During our initial test drive, we sampled both the standard four-cylinder and the hybrid powertrain and were more satisfied with the latter than the former. On our test track, the non-hybrid Sportage required 8.6 seconds to reach 60 mph, while the hybrid required only 7.4 seconds.

The Sportage travels on a new platform with a longer wheelbase than the previous generation. As a result, the vehicle’s ride quality has been enhanced. The addition of rugged-appearing trims such as the X-Line gives the compact pickup an off-road aura, but the X-Pro is equipped to handle rough terrain. It has 17-inch black wheels with all-terrain tires and a variety of operating modes.

KIA Sportage Engine 2024

We expect the 2024 Sportage to be available with three engines. A 187-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission is standard. The available hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains share the same 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and six-speed automatic transmission.

The hybrid comes with a 44.2 kW electric motor, while the plug-in hybrid has a 66.9 kW electric motor and a 13.8 kWh battery pack. The hybrid is rated at 226 hp and the plug-in hybrid produces 261 hp. All 2024 KIA Sportage powertrains are available with all-wheel drive, while the plug-in hybrid is only available with AWD.

Towing and Payload Capacity

The Kia 2024 KIA Sportage has a maximum towing capacity of 2500 pounds, but only when equipped with an aftermarket trailer brake controller. This is despite the fact that compact crossovers are not the best option for consistent trailering.

Performance

The 2024 KIA Sportage fails to impress in normal driving conditions. The slightly off-road-oriented nature of the tested X-Pro trim, with its all-terrain tires, makes on-road handling feel somewhat softer, but this is less of a concern than the vehicle’s lack of power. Our 2024 KIA Sportage test vehicle required more than 9.5 seconds to reach 60 mph on the interstate, which is extremely slow and several seconds behind class leaders. There are no other engines available unless you elect for the Sportage Hybrid, which we strongly advise you to investigate.

The engine makes most driving situations more difficult than they ought to be. The transmission is continuously searching for the optimal gear to maximize available power, and the driver must anticipate passing maneuvers well in advance. We found the steering to be simple and precise, and the brakes to be smooth and responsive. Changing the engine to something else would vastly improve the experience.

2024 Kia Sportage Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG

Front-wheel-drive models are rated at 25 mpg city and 32 mpg highway, while all-wheel-drive models are rated at 23 mpg city and 28 mpg highway. We have not yet driven the Sportage on our 75-mph fuel-economy route, but as soon as we do, we will revise this article to include test results. Visit the EPA’s website for more information about the Sportage’s fuel economy.

Safety Ratings and Features

The 2023 Sportage earned Top Safety Pick status from the IIHS. Expect equally impressive results from the 2024 model.

Standard driver assistance and active safety features include front automatic emergency braking, automatic high beams, and lane-keeping assist. Adaptive cruise control and enhanced lane tracking are only included on high-end trims. Rear automatic braking and a camera-based blind spot monitoring system are also available.

2024 Kia Sportage MPG

With all-wheel drive and all-terrain tires, the 2024 KIA Sportage X-Pro achieves EPA-estimated combined fuel economy of 25 mpg (23 city/28 freeway). This is not particularly impressive, given that many competitors are more efficient. Adding insult to injury is the Sportage’s reciprocal sluggishness. Typically, one attribute is sacrificed for another. On our 115-mile highway-heavy evaluation route, we achieved 26.4 mpg, indicating that the Kia should meet its fuel economy estimates. But if you, like us, are a significant gas user in the city, you can expect this number to decrease.

2024 Kia Sportage Trim

What does “each trim that remains” mean? The SX AWD is no longer available for the 2024 model year, and the X-Line appears to be taking its place. Comparing what was standard on the SX to what is now standard on the X-Line, there are some notable reductions.

First, X-Line owners will lose the standard 18-inch wheel, driver seat position memory, the 12.3-inch TFT cluster, the heated steering wheel, the leather-wrapped shift knob, and, in our opinion, the biggest loss of all, Smart Cruise Control, Kia’s adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go functionality, a navigation-based speed curve, and highway driving assist. All of these features were standard on the SX AWD but are not even available on the X-Line.

Once standard on the SX AWD, the power-adjustable liftgate, panoramic sunroof with power sunshade, illuminated sun visors, and LED room and luggage illumination are now optional on the X-Line. This is a significant loss of standard and optional equipment. We simply do not see how eliminating the 2023 SX AWD and retaining the X-Line added customer value.

2024 Kia Sportage Hybrid

The 2024 Kia Sportage Hybrid, on the other hand, is a roomy compact SUV with excellent fuel economy and satisfying horsepower, with some leeway. We anticipate a starting price of around $28,000.

The 2024 Kia Sportage Hybrid proves itself to be one of the most practical compact SUVs on the market, and that says a lot considering the quality of its competition. It achieves excellent fuel economy levels of up to 43 mpg combined, has a best-in-class warranty, and has a large interior for an SUV of this size, with ample seating and cargo space. With the biggest horsepower in its class, it proves that hybrid cars don’t have to be boring.

In addition to conventional gas-powered and plug-in hybrid models, which we reviewed separately, the 2024 KIA Sportage family also includes conventional petrol-powered and plug-in hybrid models. The Kia 2024 KIA Sportage Hybrid rivals the hybrid versions of the Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4, and Hyundai Tucson.

Driving The 2024 Kia Sportage Hybrid

The Kia Sportage Hybrid is powered by a 227-hp hybrid drivetrain mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission and front- or all-wheel drive. In addition to being more fuel-efficient than the gas-only Sportage, it is also quicker and more potent. However, the gas-electric interaction is not as refined and seamless as in the CR-V Hybrid.

There may be some unevenness when accelerating or braking, which is most evident when driving in the city, but it is not a deal-breaker. On the highway, we found the cabin to be relatively quiet and the ride to be quite pleasant, owing in part to the relatively long wheelbase.

We have spent countless hours driving and evaluating the current lineup of hybrid SUVs, which includes this Kia Sportage Hybrid.

2024 Kia Sportage Hybrid Interior

The interior of the 2024 KIA Sportage has been described by our critics as an attractive blend of sport, luxury, and technology. Dual 12.3-inch digital displays affixed to a convex glass panel dominate the initial impression, but that’s only the beginning. Angled air ducts surrounding the curved display give it a technical appearance. A center console with an asymmetrical layout places buttons and controls within easy reach of the driver.

When not in use, the cupholder area ingeniously transforms into an additional storage compartment that can accommodate larger items. We like the concept of the dual-purpose digital control panel, but with a knob that, depending on the mode, increases volume or temperature, it will always add a little cognitive burden.

The rear legroom measures 41,3 inches, which is the best in its class. Kia also claims class-leading cargo space with 39.5 cubic feet of space behind the split-folding rear seats, almost identical to the non-hybrid Sportage. When the rear seats are folded down, there is a 73.7-cubic-foot cargo space available.

The 2024 KIA Sportage Hybrid is one of the roomiest SUVs in its class, with a large cargo area and ample rear-seat room.

Dual Panoramic Screens

The two upper 2024 KIA Sportage Hybrid trims include two 12.3-inch displays in a single, sleek display. The first is a digital gauge cluster, while the second is an infotainment screen with features such as Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Amazon Alexa.

Wireless Power Transfer

A wireless charging device makes it simple to maintain a fully charged phone battery. In addition, two USB-C outlets are located on the seatbacks.
Standard Kia Drive Wise features include automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assist, and lane-following assist.

2024 Kia Sportage Hybrid Favorite Features

Effective Hybrid Drivetrain

The Kia Sportage Hybrid has an exceptional fuel economy rating of up to 43 combined mpg, making it 53 percent more fuel efficient than the most fuel-efficient non-hybrid Sportage. Additionally, it has a category-leading 227 horsepower rating.

Blind-Spot View Display

A video image of the 2024 KIA Sportage Hybrid’s rear three-quarter blind spot is displayed on the digital instrument panel when the turn signal is activated, making lane changes safer. It is supplemented by Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, which applies selective brakes automatically to prevent the Sportage from veering into an occupied lane.

Class-Leading Warranty

The Kia 2024 KIA Sportage Hybrid shares the finest warranty in its class with the Hyundai Tucson Hybrid. A 5-year/60,000-mile base warranty and a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty are included.

Fuel Economy

The 2024 KIA Sportage Hybrid with front-wheel drive is rated to achieve 43 mpg in combined city/highway travel. The equivalent non-hybrid Sportage is rated at 28 miles per gallon. Using standard assumptions, the difference is approximately 15 gallons per month. Even at $3 per gallon, that is a monthly savings of $45 and one journey to the gas station.

Engine & Drivetrain

The Sportage Hybrid’s hybrid drivetrain has class-leading horsepower and outstanding fuel economy.

  • 1.6-liter hybrid turbocharged four-cylinder
  • Total horsepower of 227
  • A total of 258 lb-ft of torque
  • EPA combined fuel economy for the year 2023 is 43 mpg with front-wheel drive (42 city,
  • 44 highway) and 38 mpg with all-wheel drive (38 city, 38 highway).

Powertrain

The 2024 Kia Sportage offers a hybrid powertrain with typical Kia Sportage appeal and an interior that is spacious, stylish, and a solid value. The Sportage Hybrid delivers stronger acceleration than the standard 2024 KIA Sportage. Thanks to the turbocharger and electric motor there is plenty of torque with the six-speed transmission and the v Hybrid shifts smoothly. Although there is some body roll the ride is mostly smooth and quiet.

With plenty of passenger and cargo space, the 2024 KIA Sportage Hybrid delivers functional must-haves. Storage solutions like folding cup holders are brilliant. However, the dual-function HVAC and media control panel on the dashboard is more complicated than it should be and cumbersome to use while driving. KIA Sportage hybrid 2024 with the standard model while returning better fuel economy and performance.

Performance and MPG on the Sportage Hybrid 1.6-liter turbocharged I-4 engine and a 44 kW electric motor combine to produce 227 hp of power and 258 lb-ft of torque. It is sent through a six-speed automatic transmission to standard FWD or available AWD. Equipped with AWD the Sportage Hybrid accelerates to 60 mph in 7.2 seconds, faster than the standard Sportage’s time of 9.3 seconds.

The 2024 KIA Sportage Hybrid is also much more fuel-efficient than the standard model. The FWD model is expected to achieve around 42/44 mpg city/highway like last year. Opting for AWD noticeably reduces fuel economy, to about 38/38 mpg-however, that’s much better than the regular 2024 KIA Sportage AWD, which should achieve 23/28 mpg.

2024 Kia Sportage Models

The Kia Sportage is a crossover compact SUV. The LX, EX, X-Line, SX, SX Prestige, X-Pro, and X-Pro Prestige all feature a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine (187 horsepower, 178 lb-ft of torque) and an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Standard on the majority of Sportages is front-wheel drive, with all-wheel drive available as an option. The X-Line, X-Pro, and X-Pro Prestige all come standard with all-wheel drive. Also available are the Sportage Hybrid and 2024 KIA Sportage Plug-in Hybrid, which have been evaluated separately.

Among the highlights of the standard equipment inventories are:

LX

The Sportage LX is the fundamental trim level, but that doesn’t mean it’s basic.

  • 17-inch machined aluminum rims
  • LED headlamps with automatic high-beam functionality
  • LED brake signals
  • Privacy glass with a dark hue in the rear
  • Automatically adjustable exterior mirrors
  • Keyless remote approach
  • 12.2-inch display for instrumentation
  • Fabric upholstery
  • Adjustable-height driver’s seat
  • 60/40 foldable and reclining rear bench
  • 8-inch multitouch display
  • Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration
  • Two USB front connections
  • Six speaker systems

Standard driver assistance and safety features on the Sportage include:

  • Driver alert system (issues a warning if sensors detect that the driver is becoming fatigued).
  • Leading vehicle departure alert (warns a motorist who is distracted when the vehicle in front of them begins to move while the Sportage remains stationary).
  • Forward collision warning with automatic braking (warns the driver of an imminent collision and applies the brakes in certain situations).
  • Lane departure mitigation (warns of lane departure in the absence of a turn signal and can maintain lane position automatically)
  • The lane-keeping system (makes minor steering adjustments to maintain the vehicle centered in its lane)
  • Rear parking sensors (alert the driver to impediments behind the vehicle that may not be visible)

EX

The Sportage EX is not significantly more expensive, but it comes with a long list of upgrades:

2024 Kia Sportage Price

The 2024 KIA Sportage is loaded with features and feels like a decent value for the money, but its price advantage over rivals is not as great as it once was. In exchange, it offers an aesthetically pleasing compartment with solid build quality and a number of premium amenities, such as ventilated seats, that its competitors lack. Our 2024 KIA Sportage X-Pro Prestige demo vehicle was equipped with nearly every modern small SUV feature imaginable.

Kia provides a five-year/60,000-mile baseline warranty and a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty. No one, other than sister company Hyundai, can match the quality of this product. Kia also includes roadside assistance for five years or 60,000 miles.

The EX trim appears to provide the greatest value, as it adds desirable features such as a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, wireless smartphone charging, and heated front seats.

  • LX $28,415
  • EX $30,415
  • X-Line $33,215
  • SX $33,915
  • SX-Prestige $35,915
  • X-Pro $37,415
  • X-Pro Prestige $39,215
